Women Can Shave Their Face Too

Always susceptible to YouTube trends (just, like, beauty ones, not bothering Japan ones), I was only halfway through Jaclyn Hills’ How I Shave My Face video when I knew I’d be scraping at my own face soon enough. What is good enough for Jaclyn Hill is good enough for me, damnit.

And what she said about shaving being an opportunity for exfoliation and  enhanced makeup/skin care performance and application made sense to me. She was right.

Not One of Those Controversial Razors

You gotta get one of those tiny razors with a long handle that almost looks like a pick comb. Except at the top of the handle is a short little razor blade. These face razors are often marketed as brow shapers.

Pulling my skin taut, I use short, light strokes to pass the blade in upward (and then downward) strokes all over my face (not my under eyes). Nose, sideburns, temple, forehead, everywhere. It takes all of five minutes, done to a clean face after a shower.

No 5 O’Clock Shadow Yet

I shave my face once a month and haven’t seen the peach fuzz on my face grow in darker or thicker. Shaving my face feels a little strange, but it doesn’t hurt. The amount of peach fuzz that came off my face the first time was surprising, but it’s never been that much again.

My face has legit never felt so soft. I’m a sheet, royal jelly, avocado and honey, any-kind-really mask devotee and have never seen these results before.

Shave The Face, Slap On The Moisturizer

The face needs a little pampering after shaving.

I apply a generous layer of Clinique’s Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. Let that sink in all night. The active ingredients plump the skin, easing the look of my fine lines. I like the mask from the Moisture Surge line as well. This combination of exfoliation and moisturization is an anti-aging win.

Product Performance Like Whaaaa

It’s crazy the way my serums, moisturizers, and other skin products sink into my skin now. The more exfoliated the skin is, the more receptive it is to the active ingredients (retinol, hyaluronic acid, etc) in skin care formulas. And the effects are noticeable!

Let alone the new way my foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush, and highlighter are laying down. There is a noticeable difference in the application of my face makeup. I use less foundation and it blends soooo much better. This alone is worth the time and the effort of monthly face shaving.

Give It a Whirl! Shave Your Face

Lady face shaving is awesome, a worthy addition to my beauty arsenal. Monthly shaves help exfoliate the skin, and everyday skin products now perform like rock stars.
