When it comes to beauty products this year, I’ve been prioritizing performance over trends (or my roving eyes). As a middle aged woman navigating the beauty world, I don’t have the patience (or funds) for flashy items that don’t deliver.
That’s why these five beauty brands—Tirtir, Living Proof, RMS Beauty, Makeup By Mario, and mixsoon—stood out to me in 2024. Each of them consistently delivers on their promises, offering products that improve my hair, skin, and makeup routine.
Thoughtfully designed, with realistic price points and tasteful new releases, these brands earned their spot in my 2024 beauty arsenal.
Keep reading to discover my must-have products from each!

RMS Beauty
RMS Beauty was founded by Rose-Marie Swift (no relation to Taylor), a pioneer of the clean beauty movement. A makeup artist for thirty years (notably for Victoria’s Secret), she brings her knowledge to create products that are simple, yet crazy effective.
And she’s willing to teach us! You’ll love her engaging, funny, and clearly communicated video tutorials.
Ish Mom Recommends
It’s harder to tell you what RMS Beauty product I don’t recommend. Which is nothing, really. Even if I haven’t personally tried it, I have enough faith in RMS Beauty (and especially Rose-Marie!) to recommend ALL their products.
- SuperNatural Radiance Sunscreen
- Master Radiance Base
- UnCoverup Concealer
- Glow Quad Mini
- UnPowder
- Eye Lights Cream Eyeshadow
- Back2Brow Pencil
- Straight Up Volumizing Peptide Mascara
- Go Nude Lip Pencil
- Lip2Cheek (all of them)
- Legendary Serum Lipstick (all of them)

Makeup By Mario
Say what you want about Kim Kardashian, but it’s hard to deny that her makeup is flawless. That’s largely due to Mario Dedivanovic.
He’s introduced innovative face makeup, like the SoftSculpt series. Its formula is famous for blendability and finish.
The products are a wee bit expensive, but boy, do they perform.

Ish Mom Recommends
Consumers rave about the Makeup By Mario eye pallets; but I’ve quit using eye shadow, so I can’t personally attest to that (I believe them, though).
- Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil
- Soft Pop Blush Stick
- SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Perfector
- SoftSculpt Shaping Stick
- MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum

Mixsoon
This Korean skincare brand claims to give users “glass skin” and they ain’t lying.
My skin has never been more even toned and fresh? Bouncy-looking? No kidding, last week my mom asked me if I was wearing makeup. When I told her no, she gasped.
Ish Mom Recommends
I’ve used many mixsoon products and enjoyed them all. But their Essence 3-Layering system, has literally changed my life.
- Bean Cleansing Oil
- Centella Asiatica Toner
- Every essence they make, especially the set of three
- Soybean Milk Pads

Tirtir
This year, the internet told me about the Tirtir cushion foundation, and I fell for the hype. Luckily, they were right!
I love this stuff. Tirtir’s cushion foundation is some kind of magical liquid, with a light formula reminiscent of a tinted moisturizer, but the coverage of a heavy foundation, all without settling in my growing fine lines.

Ish Mom Recommends
Of course, the cushion foundation. But Tirtir makes skincare products as well!
I received a free trial size kit and loved all the products, especially their essence and serum.
- Centella Foam Cleansing
- Milk Skin
- SOS Serum
- Ceramic Milk Ampoule
- Ceramic Cream
- Hydro UV Shield Sunscreen
- Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation (or any other finish, really)

Living Proof
I’ve been on a hair journey throughout 2024, exploring different brands, products, and styling methods.
I’m not great at styling, so the right styling products (hairspray, mouse, anti-frizz serums, etc) really help complete and set my look. That’s where Living Proof steps in, head and shoulders above the competition.
Ish Mom Recommends
My hair has always been fine, but it seems to be drooping by the minute in middle age. Living Proof volumizing and thickening products pump up my limp locks, and their flex hairspray can hold the style for two days.
This is another (comparatively) high price point, but so worth it.
- Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
- Full Dry Volume & Texture Spray
- Full Thickening Blow-Dry Cream
- Perfect hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
- Style Lab Flex Hairspray

Conclusion
These five beauty brands have upgraded my perimenopause look, honestly; leaving me with glowing skin and voluminous hair that used to more effortlessly achieved.
If you’re looking to declutter, refresh, and replace your self-care routine, now is the perfect time to treat yourself. Many of these brands have incredible discounts and gift sets available right now for their end-of-year sales – don’t miss out!
